I’m in the midst of proofreading my assignments and I’m just amazed at how things have changed in the past one month. One month (and a few days) ago, I was still working in my previous company as a full-time temporary staff… and now I’m back in school, writing assignments that get released at 6pm sharp. I’ve definitely read so much more than I ever did in 7 months after my A Levels. Honestly, school is extremely intense. Sometimes I still wonder why I chose this path, but now that I’ve chosen it, I guess I’ll stick by it.

Time just flies so fast at school. Maybe its just my course. Every week I look forward to Fridays, hoping that Monday to Thursdays pass quickly. I always look forward to Fridays because that means that I get to go back and eat with my old colleagues. It’s always fun and enjoyable to hang out with them… I guess that’s what keeps me sane sometimes, from all that school work. I always feel very blessed to know that I have such awesome ex-colleagues (who will help me with my parking, packing of lunch, looking out for my car and many more occasions). I hope that I can go back more often despite my heavy workload.

Anyway I’m still quite awake now… I think it’s because I slept at 2am last night. Ah well, at least this allows me to check through my work and ensure that what I’ve written is correct. Off to work again, will write when I have the time again.

Fourth week of school coming up! I cannot wait for SLS assignment to be over – then I’ll be free for a while! And mid term break is coming too so I’m looking forward to that too. LAWR is really really really sucking up my brain juices and my life and soul. One more assignment coming in the week after! But at least I got pass this dreadful e-mail assignment after reading all the cases again and again and again…

Decided to drive today because I was so sick of studying. I helped to run some errands and ended up getting lost in Tai Keng Gardens. Brilliant me, as usual. But by some strange coincidence I happened to pass by one of my friend’s house! Oh well. Doesn’t help that I got stuck at a dead end and had to manoeuver my way out. In any case, I am just glad that I came back safe and sound.

I really hope that I don’t get into any trouble next week and that everything will be fine and well! Time seriously flies in school.

School has been hectic. Anyway, something really frightening happened to me yesterday at school but I’m glad that I managed to argue my case out. Hopefully the lecturers understood the case well. Sigh. I suppose law lecturers are reasonable since they deal with reasoning. :\ Great huge hug to Momoko and her mom for cheering me up with that awesome ice cream!

Btw, more photos of Japan!

This is a photo of a private house in Shirakawa-go. I felt that the small bridge by the side of the house made a nice touch to the photo! I think it’s quite nice to own a small lake beside your house.

Since we’re on the topic on bridges, here’s another photo of a bridge. I like the green hues and tones in this photo! Also taken at Shirakawa-go. I think this is the last of the lot.

IKURAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Raw fish roe on rice. This was really fresh! Eaten and taken at Tsukiji Market, Tokyo.

One of the days, my family and I happened to be in a historical district and walked into a local restaurant. This building is at least 200 years old and it’s still looking strong and sturdy. The house has been extremely well maintained. Lunch was beef curry and it was super awesome.

Last but not least… how can we ever forget the ISO 5000 photo? For those who didn’t know, I took a photo at ISO 5000 in broad daylight because I forgot to adjust the dials. Anyway, the effect still turned out fine. I tried to go back and take another shot of this scene but by that time, the sun was blocked by clouds and the rainbow didn’t appear in the subsequent photos. Unlucky me… Anyway, lesson learnt – always prepare your camera’s setting before you reach the scenic location! This was taken at Kurobe Dam.

Alrighty, that’s about it for now! I am very happy today because I finally finished my case summary (after ding-donging for a while) and now I’m printing all my SLS notes. Also, partly because I went back to my office today to eat lunch with my ex-colleagues! It’s super nice to hang out with them again. Hopefully I will be free next Friday to go and eat tur-kah with them!

For those interested in my photos: the Japan album 5 is up in my photos section! View it at ngirene.com/photos.

Very very hot weather but… beautiful scenery, beautiful. Here’s a preview of what’s more to come in my later post(s) after I sort out my readings for school and my work schedule.

Shirakawa-go village, a UNESCO Heritage site. Here’s it with lots of midori grass.

Another photo of Shirakawa-go. I have a lot of shots of this village… it’s simplicity and ancientness makes it so beautiful. And I was lucky enough to get a blue sky with some clouds on that day.

Maguro-don (otoro, chutoro, minced tuna, and another part of the tuna fish). It cost Y3980- but it was so awesome. It was so awesome that I would have ordered another don if not for the fact that I ate a gabazillion lot of other food besides this.

Anyway, more photos to come! Still looking through and reviewing the other photos that I took. Will post them up once I have the time. Check back soon!

Freddie Mercury’s voice is just… beautiful. Listening to the live version of “Love of My Life” by Queen. There’s so much expression in his voice… and I just love the way the acoustic guitar is strummed. I am always so saddened by the fact that I’ll never ever get to hear Mercury singing live. There are so many songs that I’d love to hear him sing live — Somebody to Love, Love of My Life, Radio Ga Ga, Under Pressure, 39, Bohemian Rhapsody… and so many, many more. Sigh.

“Love of my life, can’t you see… bring it back, bring it back, don’t take it away…”

Also top on my list now is the drums at the end of Hotel California. Currently I’m feeling a bit melancholic because I’m looking through all the photos that were taken in the past few 7 months and I realize that I do miss the people there quite a fair bit. I’m just glad that I have photos to see whenever I miss people. Maybe that’s what made me decide to take on photography; after all, it’s the memories that will stick with you and make you smile whenever you need to cheer up.

“Hurry hurry back, don’t take it away, because you don’t know what it means to me…”

I realized that it’s not big, huge gifts that make me smile when I’m feeling down. It’s those nice little notes and cards that people write and give it to you that make me feel warm and fuzzy. (: Polaroids too make me feel happy. Recently I’ve been taking loads of polaroids… partly because I think that they’re special. They make you treasure that piece of film more than anything else, since there are no negatives or digital copy whatsoever. I’m glad that I invested in that Instanx camera and went on to take polaroids. Thank you Xiao Ming for introducing me to the world of polaroids! Never regretted stepping into the world of polaroids, haha.

Oh, this is very random, but I think the reason why I find Queen’s songs so charming is due to the fact that there are a lot of piano parts in it. I love to hear pieces being played on the piano; it makes me feel as if I’m in a different world — somehow like Gatsby and Daisy when Klippspringer plays the piano. It makes me feel as if I’m floating, drifting, in a world that I love… ah.

“Love of my life, don’t leave me…“

This is going to seem like a very stupid post but I shall write this anyway — I am secretly in love with discount coupons and credit notes because they make retail therapy so much better! Just bought a blouse at $1.20 because I had a ridiculous amount of credit notes, plus the shop was having a 20% off storewide. Teehee I am secretly very happy at my purchase! Not that the blouse was fabulous but because it was so cheap. :]

School starts tomorrow! It feels so strange that I’m not going to wake up tomorrow and take my usual train ride to Eunos station. And I won’t be switching on my PC and checking my e-mail at the office. Oh well. Guess I’ll have to get used to being back as a student – on the good side, I’ll get to enjoy much student discounts at several eateries hehehe. Can’t wait to use my matriculation card to eat the shabu shabu buffet at Iluma whee!
